Since my recent interest in nonfiction and memoir, I’ve been reading Brevity’s Nonfiction Blog. The editor of Brevity is Dinty W. Moore, a teacher and essayist (he’s also the author of Crafting the Personal Essay, a book I’ve been working through the past few months).
As the name implies, Brevity focuses on short pieces (750 words or less), and has the occasional craft essay or book review. But the spotlight is on personal essays from new writers as well as established, prize-winning authors.
If pressed, I’d have to say Brevity (along with Creative Nonfiction and Hippocampus) is one of those dream publications that I’d love to submit to one day. But I haven’t quite reached the level required for these nonfiction big leagues.
